/Nature can't take it anymore de Sea Shepherd/
Fa poc em vaig fer seguidor de Jeff Corwin, suposadament naturista i amant dels animals, a una xarxa social. Avui he descobert que aquest home dóna suport a zoos i aquaris arreu del mon. Evidentment he deixat de seguir-lo.
Vaig trobar-me amb aquest post:

Ben fet amants dels animals? Els zoo i els aquaris existeixen perquè hi ha persones que paguen per anar a veure animals fora del seu habitat natural, tancats com esclaus i vivint exposat a una raça de predadors com la nostra. No crec que a cap animal agradi deixar de nadar i viure amb la seva família a l’Oceà Pacífic per acabar realitzant espectacles qüestionables per un públic d' egoistes dins d’una piscina que, encara que sigui gran, només és una piscina.
Manifestant el meu desacord amb un missatge al seu post, han començat a comparèixer comentaris tant al meu favor que en contra de les meves paraules. Comentaris aquest últims que, increïblement, justifiquen zoos i aquaris argumentant evolució, educació i salvaguarda dels animals. Perquè un animal ha de voler viure lliure al seu entorn amb la seva espècie si pot passar la meitat de la seva existència tancat dins d’una gàbia, exposat al ulls de tothom, cagant pixant i intentant reproduir-se a un lloc artificial on no pot caçar ni relaxar-se ni amagar-se? Hi han persones que creuen que es pugui pagar la total absència de llibertat amb menjar i un veterinari de guàrdia. Molt trist.

“Aquariums are not at fault for what goes on in Taiji. Drive fisheries have been a part of the Japanese culture for thousands of years. The dolphins that are taken from Taiji are only exported to Asiatic countries. None of the dolphins in the aquariums in the United States came from Taiji. Seriously do you think they would have any dolphin trainers who love dolphins working for them if "The Cove" were a hundred percent true? And there is also a reason why "Blackfish" is not nominated for an Oscar. It is not a true documentary because its designed to make you feel and not make you think, too political and 85% inaccurate. Without aquariums and zoo's, people would not care about animals as much. Children wouldn't love them the same way because there is nothing more exciting to a child than to be very close to a wild animal in a safe .environment. I loved animals when I was a kid and still do and I blame zoo's and aquariums for that.”
(Aquesta persona és un cas a part: creure que un documental que ensenya la crueltat en el procés d’esclavitud d’un ser viu és tot una mentida per no ser candidat a l’Oscar….)
“They serve as ambassadors to enlighten and educate everyone about the extraordinary biodiversity of this planet. It is up to us humans to ensure socialization and enrichment in return for this selfless service...as most zoos function independently their sucess at this and their facilities vary greatly. I have seen depressing zoos, but I have also seen amazing ones in which keeper and creature are a fabulous team for conservation.”
“Get educated people. Zoos and aquariums do amazing things for animals.”
“Zoos have done big goals in Amphibians'conservation, even in Mammals or birds.. projects boosted by zoos permit to protect many areas and educate people to defende nature.”
Hi han persones que no creuen a documentals reals que exposen el problema de manera crua i real senzillament perquè no son pel·lícules candidates als Oscar. Persones que tenen fills i, si per aquests la felicitat és veure un animal o un cetaci tancat, doncs el que necessita ser educat no és el propi fil sinó l’animal. Els animals no son fills d’altres animals? Existeixen persones que justifiquen la matança que cada anys sacseja Taiji, persones que estan disposades a tancar els ulls davant l’aniquilació de desenes de milers de dofins en aquest cas, si el resultat és la possibilitat de veure uns quants d’ells fer els bufons dins d’un aquari. Hi han persones que quan miren un ‘orca dins d’una piscina fan voluntària omissió del fet de que la pinna caudal d’aquest magnífic mamífer sigui doblada per la captivitat. Persones que obliden que aquest magnífics animals viuen en famílies. Famílies que evidentment venen destrossades.
És veritablement trist veure com aquestes institucions que es lucren esclavitzant animals tinguin adeptes tan fidels com terriblement cecs.
